Efforts have been done in South Kalimantan to realize the sustainability of raw material. It is expected that in the future, the efforts will also be able to assist the wood based industries to recover.
Operation Director of Surya Satria Timur Group Banjarmasin, Sukendy Johan welcomed the positive efforts done by the government to improve HTI (Forest Estate) and HTR (Community Forest). It has been realized that the availability of raw material is getting worse.
“We all know that many wood industries complain because of the lack of raw material ,” he mentioned.
In order to fulfill the need of raw material, Natural Forest could provide 20-30 percent, the rest is expected from Industry Forest (HTI).
“At least, our wood based industries will not collapse by utilizing other nature resources to obtain wood, hopefully the industries will be better,” he expected.
He also added that there are only some wood based industries left, PT Tanjung Raya, PT Tanjung Selatan, Surya Satria Timur (SST) Group, PT Daya Sakti, PT Wijaya Tri Utama and PT Basirih. Dea, Metro, Friday 18 July 2008
